Scholarships
We believe that everyone should have access to high-quality music education. Our scholarship program aims to provide financial assistance to students, regardless of age, in pursuit of their musical dreams.
Important Dates
- Deadline for Spring 2024 Scholarship Applications: January 1, 2024
- Uke Troupe will rehearse on Tuesdays, 5:15 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., January 9, 2024-May 14, 2024.
- Uke Troupe will perform on Friday, Feb. 16, 2024 (President’s Day holiday) and Saturday, May 4, 2024 (Spring Recital).
Eligibility
All students enrolled at Music Discovery are eligible to apply for a scholarship. Most scholarships are partial awards for discounted tuition. Scholarship amounts are determined on a case-by-case basis, depending on the needs and circumstances of each applicant, and awarded for one term at a time. Students must apply once every term if they wish for their scholarship to be renewed.
Conditions
If you wish to maintain your scholarship, you must meet the following conditions:
- Attend all lessons as scheduled, providing a valid, documented excuse in the event of emergencies.
- Practice for a minimum amount of time per week, as designated by the Student’s teacher.
- Participate in at least two solo performance opportunities each term.
- Students in Grades 2-12 must participate in Uke Troupe, including attending all rehearsals and performances. Uke Troupe rehearsals are Tuesday nights, 5:15 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. A loaner ukulele and other materials will be provided to you, and you will not be charged tuition for Uke Troupe.
- Participate in private lessons year-round: Fall Term, Spring Term, and Summer Term.
Families must also be current on their tuition payments or have a payment plan in place in order to be considered for a scholarship. Once families are accepted into the scholarship program, tuition payments must be made on time.
We believe that these conditions will help you stay committed to your musical education and make the most of your scholarship opportunity.
Application Process
Follow these steps to apply for the Music Discovery Scholarship:

- Each student must have one form. If your family has more than one scholarship applicant, you must fill out one form for each.
- Guidelines for writing the Personal Statement are here, as well as on your application.

- Please note that late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
Selection Process
Our scholarship committee will review all complete applications and select recipients based on a combination of factors, including financial need, dedication to music, previous performance in scholarship program, and potential for growth. All applicants will be notified of the committee’s decision before the start of the time applied for.
Scholarship grants are reviewed during Week 9 and Week 27 (halfway through the Fall and Spring terms). You may have your scholarship increased or decreased during this time, depending upon your performance.
