Our Promise to You

Our Promise to You

Music Discovery is a family-owned small business dedicated to music education. This is not our side hustle — it’s our calling. And since our business is owned and operated by music teachers, you can be assured that everything we do exists to serve our purpose of teaching music with expertise and passion.

Excellent teachers have excellent relationships with their students. We consider the bond that we have with our students and families to be our most precious asset. One of the important ways we protect these relationships is by exhibiting honesty, integrity, and transparency in our business model.

We started Music Discovery because we want to serve you better than we could when we were someone else’s employees. To this end, we make the following promises to you:

  • We promise to put the best interests of our students above profit.
  • We will balance the hard work and discipline required to study music with fun challenges (such as The Musical Ladder System) and a positive, inspired environment you will enjoy being a part of.
  • We make our tuition and billing system easy to understand, and we will make sure you understand them at your first lesson. You won’t be charged any ridiculous hidden fees (like “registration”) just because we can. The only fee you will ever be charged is the $30 recital fee, which goes toward renting the hall, printing programs, decorating, etc.
  • We won’t play “hide the ball” if you want to discontinue your lessons. Simply put in writing when you want to unenroll (a text or email will do fine), and we will stop billing you. You will be responsible for tuition through your final month of enrollment.
  • We promise to make our full policies available to you at your first lesson in the Welcome Packet, and we encourage you to read it carefully. It is written in plain English with a readable font — no fine print.
  • In the words of Oscar Hammerstein II, “If you become a teacher, by your pupils you’ll be taught.” We will listen to you and embrace opportunities to learn and improve.
